As in past years, the BDSFB invites all artists in print media to send us submissions (in electronic format) of artwork that includes Christmas, Winter Holiday, or Winter Seasonal themes and imagery that you would like us to consider for our Christmas & Holiday Cards for this year’s upcoming campaign.
The Christmas & Holiday Card campaign, which we launch at our annual Art of Desert evening in November, is one of the most important and successful fundraisers the Sudbury Food Bank organizes. We could not accomplish this without the help of artists such as yourselves!
Submission must be emailed to us at sudburyfoodbank@vianet.ca by September 7th, 2024 for consideration and you are welcome to submit multiple pieces. Our card sponsors will choose the submission they would like to see on the card they sponsor, as well as whether they would like their card to say Merry Christmas or Season’s Greetings in French, English or both. During the campaign, these cards are offered to the public for $5 donations each: the cost of providing a holiday meal to a person facing hunger.
Once the selection of cards has been made, a donation of the submitted print or similar item for inclusion in the Art of Dessert’s silent auction is appreciated. If a piece is provided for auction a reserve bid can be requested if the artist wishes. Once bidding is over, the BDSFB will supply you with a tax receipt for the value the piece sold for at auction!
Also, artists whose submissions are chosen this year will receive the following:
• 4 complimentary tickets to the Art of Dessert Evening (Value $300) which takes place Thursday, Nov 7, 2024 from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. to launch the 2024 Card Campaign;
• Official recognition at the Art of Dessert evening. This will include a swag bag (minimum value $100) and 20 copies of your card for your portfolio (value of $100);
• Table space (optional) to display other pieces of your work if you would like to do so. (space is a 2ft. by 4 ft. table, table cloth included);
• Recognition in all media associated with the event after selections are made, and
• The great feeling that comes with knowing you have made a difference in helping our fellow community members facing hunger and food insecurity!
On behalf of the thousands that cannot thank you themselves, I thank you in advance for your consideration and positive response to this request and for being part of this worthwhile local project to raise funds to feed our region’s hungry.
If you require any additional information about the submission process, the Christmas & Holiday Card campaign, The Art of Dessert Gala Evening, the Banque d’aliments Sudbury Food Bank and its work or have any other questions in regard to this opportunity, please give the Sudbury Food Bank office a call at 705-671-9663 or email us at sudburyfoodbank@vianet.ca.
