(SUDBURY, ON) – The Retirees Chapter of Unifor Local 598, also known as the Mine Mill Retirees, had their annual Christmas lunch on Wednesday and they brought a spirit of generosity to the event along with their appetites.
The invitation to the annual party at the Caruso Club always includes a request for the members to bring in donations of food or funds to the Banques d’aliments Sudbury Food Bank (BDSFB).
This year the attending members, the Retirees Chapter of the Unifor Local 598, and the National Union Social Justice Fund came together to raise over $6000 in food and funds to help feed Sudbury’s less fortunate.
Joe Drago, Board Chair for the BDSFB, was on hand to thank the Mine Mill Retirees and the union for their generosity and continued support of the BDSFB and it’s mission to ensure no one in the Sudbury Region goes hungry.

Dan Xilon, Executive Director of the BDSFB, adds, “I am always moved by the Retirees dedication to using their private celebration as a means of giving to help the hungry people and families in our community. I think it’s a great example of the best the holiday season has to offer.”
