2015 Coach4Food

Created in 2005 by Tom Hedican, the Coach4Food program unites the hockey community with food banks and allows them to use our passion for the sport to help end hunger in our communities.

Simply put, teams which choose to participate will have until February 28th to collect as much food as they can for the BDSFB. Along with teaching our young players about the values of giving, sharing, and caring the program empowers them with the knowledge that their hard work and dedication can have a real impact in their community.

A key component of the Coach4Food program is the healthy competition that lies at the heart of minor hockey. Though everyone’s contributions, no matter how large or small, will come together to help feed the hungry in our community there are some fantastic prizes for the teams that bring in the most:

  • 1st Place: A practice with coaches and players from The Sudbury Wolves. The Wolves provide the ice time and they will also bring the team to a game and recognize them publicly for their efforts.
  • 2nd – 5th Place: These teams will receive 20 complimentary Wolves’ tickets and a special price of $10/ticket for additional friends and family to accompany them to the game.
  • Also, all of the top 5 teams will be getting a pizza party.

Please note that any minor hockey team, in any association or league based in and around the areas serviced by the BDSFB are welcome to participate and there is no obligation upon those leagues or associations to shoulder any of the organizing of the effort, nor do all teams have to participate.

If you are the coach, manager, assistant coach, parent of a player, or player of a team and would like to learn more about how you can get your team involved in this year’s Coach4Food please contact Dan Xilon, at the BDSFB by phone: 705-671-9663 or email: sudburyfoodbank@vianet.ca.
