Greater Sudbury Businesses & Employees Food Drive
History
It all stared 21 years ago when Edgar Burton's daughters came home from school and asked if they could collect food for the needy. He was so moved that the Vale Inco veteran began a food drive with his fellow employees that over the years and with more businesses joining in to lend their hands has become the Greater Sudbury Business and Employee Food Drive.
Special Thank you to you Edgar Burton.
The Business and Employees food drive is now in its 21st year.
The Greater Sudbury Employees and Businesses Food Drive collected over 50 tons of food during the 2009 holiday season. Next year we hope for even more community participation and support from individuals such as you.
We would like to thank Mr. Edgar Burton for the effort and perseverance that he has shown over the past 21 years with the Greater Sudbury Businesses and Employees Food Drive. With a grand total of over 400 tons of food, it is truly something to be proud of. Beginning with a request from his daughters back in 1987 to collect from co-workers....to over 300 Businesses participating in 2009. This is truly a lifetime achievement.
"One more can than last year," Edgar Burton
Edgar Burton & Fellow Organizers of the 21st Annul City of Greater Sudbury Businesses and Employees Food Drive once again shows why we are so blessed to live in our community. BDSFB wishes to thank the Officers, Men & Women of the 2nd Battalion Irish Regiment of Canada for offering their services to collect the food donated during the 2009 Campaign.
Once again we look on with hope as the Business and Employee Food Drive grows to record levels. The goal set for this year as stated by Edgar Burton “One more can of food” was a definite understatement as weights hit the 50 ton mark.
THANK YOU!!
