It was a good news / bad news type of situation. Every year the Banque d’aliments Sudbury Food Bank’s agencies complete a survey to see how many Sudburians are using food banks. The number show that usage is down by almost 1000 people a month. Unfortunately, the demand is still high. Over 13,400 people use a food bank, every month in the Sudbury region.

Banque d’aliments Sudbury Food Bank regularly provides food to its member agencies to help them service their cliental. Twice yearly the Sudbury Food Bank allocates funds to some of it member agencies so that they can purchase any additional food items that they may require (milk, eggs, etc)

On May 17, 2012, Banque d’aliments Sudbury Food Bank handed out over $255,000, at its bi-annual "Spring Give". Some of the agencies receiving funds included Salvation Army, Inner City Home, Maison Vale Hospice, Jeunes de la Rue, and Blue Door Soup Kitchen.

The first of the Vale Concert Series  2012 to assist the Sudbury Food Bank has been completed.

Although the weather did not cooperated to the fullest. The spirits of all volunteers involved and crowd that came were very high! Compliments after the show from the audience were extremely positive with many promises and excitement of looking forward  to attending the next one and bringing more friends.

The concert was excellent. And was also capped off with a wonderful offer from the Artist Dave Gunning that for every CD sold that evening a $10.00 donation would be given to the Food Bank.  We thank him for his generosity.

Over 270 people were in attendance and $2,000.00 was raised. Thank-you to Vale, Bob Bale and Dave Gunning for the terrific opportunity.

The next free concert is Hemingway Corner on Wed. June 20^th at the Grace Hartman Amphitheater Rain or Shine. Start time 7:00 p.m.

This is a terrific family outing opportunity, and we hope that everyone will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to attend the concert and support the Banque d'aliments Sudbury Food Bank.

The Banque d'aliments Sudbury Food Bank is proud of the 40 volunteers that assist us throughout the year and help us achieve our goal of ensuring there is food for all those who need it.

Northridge Savings Credit Union supports all the volunteers in the Region of Sudbury. They proudly sponsered Sudbury's Volunteer week by providing bracelets to numerous organizations, to hand out to thier volunteers.

Vale says that world-class Canadian entertainment will soon be coming to Sudbury as part of the company's latest community initiative, the Vale Concert Series.

Vale plans to present a series of five concerts in support of the Sudbury Food Bank. The concerts will be free for the community and will showcase world-class Canadian entertainment.

The line up includes:

• Dave Gunning, an outstanding nine time critically acclaimed singer /song writer with 18 CD’s to his credit as well as a more recent 2012 Juno Award (Wednesday May, 9^th)

• Canadian success story Hemingway Corner (Wednesday Jun, 20^th)

• Two time Juno Folk nominee The Marigolds (Wednesday July, 18^th)

• Six time Canadian Country Music Association Guitar Player of the Year Wendell Ferguson, with, Katherine Wheatly (Wednesday Aug, 15^th)

• 11 time Juno Award winning musician and song writer Murray McLauchlan alongside Cindy Church, who has earned two Juno nominations (September 15th)

On a cold and windy night this small troup went door to door, in the New Sudbury Area collecting can goods for the Banque d'aliments Sudbury Food Bank.

We thank Rob and Joe (Troup leaders), Brian (Scout) , Scott, Ben, Joshua and Tucker (Cubs) for thier effort in collecting over 200 lbs of food.

Knowing how generous her staff and clients were she decided to have another drive this year.They were able to collect over $1400.00 in donations of food and funds in support of the Banque d'aliments Sudbury Food Bank.

Pauline and some of her clients (Mina Gagne, Elaine Frittoliz, Rolland Tanguag, Denis Haapala, Irene Cooper, Denis Currie and Patrca Miths) were on hand to present the food and money to the Sudbury Food Bank

Daughters of Isabella Makes a Donation to support the Sudbury Food Banks efforts to feed our regions hungry.

Representatives of the Daughters of Isabella present a terrific donation of food and funds to the Sudbury Food Bank to help in its efforts to feed the hungry. The collections of food and funds were completed through spaghetti dinners and monthly bake sales.

The Board of Directors of the Banque d'aliments Sudbury Food Bank gives their sincerest Thanks to the Daughters of Isabella for all the joy and help these dollars and food will bring to our communities less fortunate. We are very blessed to have such strong service organizations in our community.

Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 230,  Makes a Donation to support the Sudbury Food Banks efforts to feed our regions hungry.

The Walden Old Timers Hockey Club is a six-division league for adult males. Games are played at the Sudbury Arena, Walden Arena, and Countryside Arena.  The organization uses funds raised to help support various community groups, including the Walden Minor Hockey Association, House of Kin, Walden Food Bank, Cambrian Foundation and the Sudbury Food Bank

This inaugural winter disc golf tournament was a great success, and we look forward to promoting next year's Ice Bowl along with you.

17 players + -1C + 54.8 cm of snow = 157 lbs of food donated, as well as $184.01 being raised.

The Ontario Credit Union Charitable Foundation is pleased to present the Sudbury Food Bank with a cheque for $1,700.

OCUCF and Representatives of the Sudbury Credit Union dropped of a donation that was received with much thanks by the Sudbury Food Bank. The funds will be used to purchase food stuffs to feed our regions less fortunate.

The fund were a matching donation by the OCUCF for the donation that was received from the Sudbury Credit Union in early Jan 2012

Presenting the cheque to BDSFB are Mimi Wiseman, Sudbury Credit Union CEO, George Joyce, Sudbury Credit Union Vice-Chair and Guido Chezzi, Vice-Chair of the OCUCF.”

Stephanie was proud to present a check for $1485.00 to Dan Xilon, administrator of BDSFB.

Mrs. Cecilia Cano, Social Coordinator, Mrs Beatriz Castro, Secretary and Dr. Pablo Cano, President were proud to present a check for $2000 to Dan Xilon, Administor of BDSFB.

The Sudbury Credit Union had pledged to donate $25,000 to the Capital Campaign to help pay for the new warehouse that Banque d'aliments Sudbury Food Bank had purchased in May 2011. A payment of $12,500 was orginally made in may and this was the 2nd $12,500 payment towards thier pledge.
